Public Health South has advised this is more of an aesthetic (smell & odour) issue and of low health effects over a short period of time / after drinking some of the affected water. This is good news, however we request you continue to take a conservative approach and only drink bottled and tanker water until the issue is fully resolved. We will update you when this changes.

Message from the Central Otago District Council Please DO NOT DRINK the water in Roxburgh. (Not even if it's boiled). We've had an issue at the reservoir. We will update you later this morning. There is a water tanker being sent to the school and the hospital and should be there soon. Showering and flushing toilets is still okay, but no consumption at all. Please spread the word to family, friends and neighbours and let's get the word out there.
