Bike Mechanic - Trail Journeys (Clyde)


Trail Journeys has operated on the popular Otago Central Rail Trail (New Zealand's Original Great Ride) since the rail trail began in 2000. We’ve helped thousands of independent travellers put together great tour itineraries tailored to their special interests, budgets and time constraints.


We are seeking the services of a Bike Mechanic for the upcoming season. The hours are generally flexible and we can work around study requirements if needed. The Job is based in Clyde at our Railhead building.


Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Clean, service and repair Trail Journeys’ fleet of bicycles so that they are in first class working order and ready for further use.
  • Prepare bikes and associated equipment for departing customers.
  • Assist customers in their departure preparations by explaining the operation of the bicycles, making adjustments to suit individual riders and providing general information and support.
  • Assist customers finishing their rides.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Keep records of departing and returning bicycles.
  • Assemble new bicycles.
  • Participate in workshop procedures and housekeeping to ensure a safe, efficient and professional-looking workshop environment.

The successful applicant will have good mechanical aptitude, an eye for detail.

Asset Maintainer - Pioneer Energy (Central Otago)


Pioneer Energy is looking to hire an Asset Maintainer to join our team in Alexandra. The role covers a broad range of skill sets in the field of mechanical maintenance and civil construction on and around our electricity generation and thermal energy plant.


The Job:

We are looking for a full-time employee to join our team who will ensure that assets owned and operated by Pioneer Energy Ltd are constructed and maintained in a safe, reliable and serviceable condition. The role is based in Alexandra, however the successful candidate would be required to travel to other sites outside of Central Otago from time to time.


Desirable skills for the role are as follows:

  • Experience with mechanical maintenance from industrial through to automotive.
  • Building/carpentry experience
  • Experience with wind turbines, hydro power generation or solid fuel boilers
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery such as: class 2-4 trucks, excavators

Manager People and Safety - Pioneer Energy (Alexandra)


Are you an experienced Health and Safety and Human Resources professional looking for a new challenge?


Pioneer Energy are looking for someone who has skills in both Health, Safety and Wellness and Human Resources administration to join the team at Pioneer Energy as the Manager of People and Safety.


The Job

This role will be responsible for ensuring both the HSW and HR systems are administered, complied to, communicated, kept up to date and continually improved. This role reports to the General Manager of Assets and Compliance and is supported by one FTE. The role is split roughly 75% HSW, 20% HR and 5% general compliance.


This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, usually worked Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm in the office, however there is flexibility for the right person. Travel around the country to visit our sites will be required.


Essential skills and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification (HSW or HR related preferred but not essential)
  • Experience in HSW and/or HR position (preferably 7-8 years)
  • Knowledge of HSWA 2015 Legislation, Regulations, Standards and international good practice relating to industry safety requirements


Desirable skills experience:

  • Knowledge of ISO 45000
  • Management experience
  • Auditing experience
