Central Otago looks set to experience a settled week in weather, according to MetService.
Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the week ahead looks mostly fine, except for the odd scattered shower and southerly breeze.
“No major players for unsettled weather this week but expect a couple more frosty mornings,” Lewis says.
“Cold air brought in by the southerly winds of the weekend, coupled with clear skies overnight, meaning that frosts are possible Tuesday and Wednesday morning.”
Central Otago will feature mostly settled weather, with scattered showers mid-week along with the odd southerly breeze.
Lewis says the days are getting noticeably longer as spring ramps up.
“Around the equinox is where the change in daylight is happening the fastest, about three minutes extra per day for Alexandra,” he explains.
“With the sun getting higher in the sky the days are able to warm up nicely without help from the wind.”
A midweek change may bring scattered showers, with light southerly breezes.
“Wednesday afternoon could see a shower or two but there’s a good chance it won’t impact many people,” Lewis says.
“Settled weather looks to last until Saturday at this point.”
