Central Otago will experience the full gauntlet of weather this week, with strong weather warnings for rain and snow down to 400m, according to MetService.
Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says Central will be in for a mixed bag this week.
“Forget about temps in the high teens for a few days” Lewis says,
“The first half of the week is a busy one with rain setting in today (Monday), a southerly wind brings in some cool air as the day progresses and the risk of snow down to around 400m extends into Wednesday morning”
“Monday has the most widespread rain, Tuesday and Wednesday are showery with cool southerly winds. Some of these showers could be heavy and bring snow down to around 400m.”

Central Otago will experience a mixed bag of weather this week, according to MetService.
Elevated areas will have blizzard like conditions to deal with at times on Tuesday. Snow showers and strong southerlies will make for some gnarly conditions about the ranges.
“Thursday marks the day of change back to more settled weather. Temperatures may struggle to make double digits on Tuesday and Wednesday but by Friday we’re back to some sunshine and temperatures in the high teens”. Lewis says.
