Power outage in Millers FlatAurora Energy has announced a power outage around Millers Flat.

Residents of Millers Flat are reporting a power outage, with workers on task to restore service, according to an Aurora Energy statement.

“Aurora Energy has been made aware of an electricity surge in Millers Flat that has impacted on a number of properties,” a statement says.

“The surge occurred while contractors were undertaking a maintenance job on a transformer around 2.30 p.m. today, when the work caused a secondary fault and voltage surge.

“Thankfully no one has been hurt, although we understand the power is still off for some properties in Teviot Rd and surrounding areas. We have also been advised there is damage to electrical equipment in a number of properties.

“Twenty-one customers have been affected and houses will need to be inspected to make sure it is safe before the power is restored. This will be done house by house and it is expected that all customers will have power back by later this evening.

“We ask any customers who have damage to their equipment to contact their insurance company in the first instance.

“If customers have any questions about the outage we encourage them to call Aurora Energy on 0800 22 00 05 (24/7).”
