Cromwell Youth Trust (CYT) youth workers and rangatahi are still buzzing after experiencing the Cardrona Foundations’ Ride Tamariki programme.

On Cardrona’s website the philanthropic ‘Cardrona Foundation’ (CF) is described as the resort’s way of “rippling goodness, guardianship, protection, and conservation through our community and mountains”.

CF project Ride Tamariki ensures there is no barrier between local kids and their love of the mountains.

CYT, Wakatipu Youth Trust and Kahu Youth Trust are three local groups CF is running day-long experiences with, getting youngsters up skiing and snowboarding who would not otherwise have access to the maunga (mountain).

Seven Sharp aired a story on CYT’s Ride Tamariki day in early July, and for many of the local participants it was their first time experiencing a day at a ski field.

A CYT spokesperson said the youth very much enjoyed seeing themselves become TV superstars and they are very excited to head back up the mountain again.

CYT offers a wide variety of services from a free drop-in youth centre called The Hangout, adventurous holiday porogrammes, experiential learning through youth development programmes, supportive one to one mentoring, inclusive events, engagement through schools and more.
