Police can now confirm one person has died following a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 8B, Cromwell this morning.

Emergency services were called around 11.25am.

Sadly, the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.

NZ Police advise that State Highway 8B, Cromwell, is blocked at the roundabout at the intersection with Barry Ave due to a serious single-vehicle crash.

Motorists are asked to take alternate routes.
