An unplanned outage that affected much of Alexandra last night is suspected to have been caused by high winds causing power lines to clash, tripping a circuit-breaker.
The power went out to 1,340 Aurora Energy customers at 8:48pm yesterday, and was restored by 10:29pm.
Aurora Energy customer and engagement manager Lisa Gloag said the 24/7 fault crew investigated the power outage yesterday evening and suspect the high winds caused the power lines to clash, which resulted in the power outage.
She reminded people to stay clear of fallen power lines or damaged electrical equipment and treat them as live at all times.
