A case study on Welcoming Communities is taking place in Central and more newcomers are needed for a group interview in a fortnight (July 13).
Allen + Clarke is conducting the interviews on behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) as part of a multi-year evaluation to realise findings from the Welcoming Communities initiative.
Participants need to be available for 90 minutes from 10.30am on Thursday, July 13 and will receive a $50 voucher as koha (donation) for their time.
Thursday’s interview will take place at Alexandra Community House.
Newcomers to the district will be asked about their experience of different aspects of community life in Central in a casual and comfortable setting with shared kai (food).
Newcomers could include migrants, refugees, international students, or people who have moved to Central from other areas of New Zealand.
Allen + Clarke analyst Kai Faasen said he is hoping to hear from people who have moved here within the past five years and have also engaged with the Welcoming Communities programme.
Welcoming Communities – Te Waharoa ki ngā Hapori is a settlement programme that supports local government councils (councils) and their communities to create welcoming and inclusive environments for newcomers.
