A new ambulance is ready and waiting to care for the needs of people throughout the wider Alexandra area.
The frontline ambulance was funded by Central Lakes Trust (CLT), Otago Community Trust (OCT) and Aotearoa Gaming Trust (AGT) to the tune of $204,000.
That contribution was acknowledged during a blessing and dedication ceremony in Alexandra earlier this week, an event that was attended by dozens of people.

Hato Hone St John South Island grants lead Andy Gray said support from funders goes a long way for the organisation, which does not receive government funding for the purchase of vehicles.
“We usually have to fund 15 ambulances in the South Island each year.
“That’s our biggest ticket item that we struggle to fund,” he said.
Chaplain Robyn McPhail conducted the dedication, thanking God for the provision of the ambulance and the ministry of care it will make possible.

“We now dedicate it to the service of the people of the South Island region,” she said.
“Watch over all who travel in it, and all who are treated in it and from it: the sick, the injured, and those who minister to them. May the dying be comforted, the sick recover health and strength, and be able to give thanks for the care received.”
Tony Lepper attended the ceremony to gift the ambulance on behalf of the funders and Doug Dance received it on behalf of the Order of St John.
“I congratulate and thank CLT, OCT and AGT for their generosity in providing this vehicle for the South Island region, to be used to offer the service of St John to all who need our care,” Doug said.
The blessing and dedication ceremony was held at the end of a donor event, which provided people with an update on St John, its services and need for volunteers.
