The Alexandra Blossom Festival committee is urgently seeking more florrey entries for this year’s Grand Parade, with only one entry received so far.
Florrey’s are a small float made on a New World shopping trolley and have been a popular way for small groups and families to be involved in the Blossom Festival for almost a decade.
Festival event manager Martin McPherson said only one entry had been received so far, for this year's upcoming event and hoped more would come in to help keep the competition alive.
“We would love to see more florrey entries otherwise we will need to look at cancelling the florrey competition,’’ he said.
“It would be a real shame as we have seen some fantastic entries over the years. This year we had revamped the competition with each entry receiving a $50 New World voucher and cash prizes on offer for the top three florreys.
“Florrey’s have been a wonderful addition to the Grand Parade, and we are keen to see that continue. We are putting out an urgent call to anyone who was considering entering a florrey to get their entry in asap.’’
The Alexandra Blossom Festival committee were grateful to New World Alexandra for their support of the florrey’s over the years, Martin said.
Florrey entry forms are available on the Alexandra Blossom website www.blossom.co.nz or instore at New World Alexandra.
