Southern Cancer Society Central Lakes

Listed: 13 Aug 2024

Are you looking for a role with meaningful mahi that truly makes a difference? Then this is the role you’ve been searching for.

We, the Cancer Society, are a long standing, respected organisation that has national reach whilst being embedded within the local communities we serve.

Across all of our services, we work to improve cancer outcomes for the community… your community.

Āu Mahi - What You Will Do

As a Cancer Navigator, the primary focus of your role will be to work alongside individuals and their whānau following a cancer diagnosis, supporting them to navigate and connect them with the right information and support services.

Every whānau is different, so understanding everyone’s individual needs is key to ensuring we’re providing support that is appropriate.

This role will support whānau across the Central Lakes district, primarily throughout the Alexandra and Cromwell regions, extending to Roxborough and Naseby areas.

We have an office in Alexandra, but you could also be based from our Queenstown office – we are open to discussions about location.

This is also a part-time role, working 20 hours per week.

At this stage, we don’t have set days and hours in mind, so we are also open to discussing what this could look like for you.

We get that life is busy, so work life balance and flexibility is really important to us – we trust you to manage your own time and balance the needs of you and your whānau.

Mōhou ake - About you

Ideally, you’ll have experience working in health or in a community-based role.

This role works directly with our community, so you’ll have a level of comfort working in this space.

Going hand in hand with this is the ability to connect and build relationships with a wide range of people.

You’ll also be computer savvy – don’t worry, you don’t need to be able to create pivot tables in Excel, but you do need to know your way around a PC, be able to use the MS Office Suite and have experience working with databases (ideally client/patient management systems).

A full, clean driver's licence is also a must.
