Business is blooming for Bunts Florist in Clyde as another Valentine's Day wraps up.

Bunts Florist had a huge Valentine's Day morning, with more than 20 orders coming in during the first hour of business.

Owner Tania Black said she was expecting more and more customers to come in at the very last minute to organise flowers for their other halves.

"This is our first Valentine's Day in our new location on Matau Street in Clyde.

"It's a bit of a story as to how we got here.

"After the Christchurch earthquake, I packed up and pretty much left that night.

"My old shop was in New Regent Street in Christchurch and we were the oldest florist in the city."

New Regent Street was badly impacted in the 2011 earthquake and many of the buildings were reduced to rubble.

"I opened up here last June as I thought I just have to be doing flowers again."

Tania said she was very proud to be only stocking New Zealand grown roses and had ordered early to ensure a good supply.

"On Sunday we got orders packed for Queenstown, Wanaka and elsewhere.

"It's the prep that can take up a lot of time."

Tania said she had heard a few cyclists remarking on her flowers brightening up the street.

"They're saying 'oh look at the flowers' to their husbands.

"That's a big hint, today should be the day!"

Half a dozen red roses will set you back $150 at Bunts Florist.
