Central Lakes Trust (CLT) is supporting Central Otago District Council (CODC) with communications and engagement for newcomers to the district, awarding Welcoming Communities an operational grant of $16,000.

Another Central recipient successful in the August funding round was Winterstellar, who was awarded $10,000 for this year’s exhibition.

CLT has backed a diverse range of initiatives with $237,546 in grants approved at its August board meeting.

Along with the grants for Central initiatives, the grants will go towards programmes supporting vulnerable members of the Central community.

The Child Cancer foundation received $6000, Parent-to-Parent, which is a not-for-profit group that empowers families through support and information, was given $5000, and Manaaki Tangata (Victim Support) received $16,666.

Community Colleges New Zealand Limited (ComCol) was granted $15,000 for a youth advisor.

Winterstellar, a showcase of astrophotography images, is available to view at Central Stories until September 20.

The Central App will publish an update on Welcoming Communities next week.
