Seven Alexandra BMX club (ALX) riders raced hard with everyone who made it through to the elimination rounds at the BMX New Zealand Nationals Championships last weekend.

ALX spokesperson Lena Sutherland said there was some tough racing with large numbers of competitors in some groups.

“[The Alexandra crew] showed up with small numbers, but big spirits.

"Our riders showed great sportsmanship, cheering on their teammates, having fun, riding hard, and making our club proud.”

Alexandra’s Holly Oldham earned second place (or NZ2 plate) in the women’s under 23 (elite) category.

Lena said those involved in the club valued Holly’s contribution to the club and her support and coaching of the younger riders.

Results for the other six were; in the nine years olds, third place (NZ3 plate) for Hendrix Kahukura, sixth for Ali Campbell and 19th for Flynn Sutherland.

Kate Entwisle placed ninth in the 10 year old girls and her older brother Dylan came in 13th in the 12 year old boys.

The youngest competitor from Alexandra was younger brother Ryan who rode in the sprockets (six year olds).
