The Wānaka Wedding Fair is gearing up for its fourth annual fair this weekend.

Covid-19 restrictions have meant the Wānaka events calendar is looking pretty quiet after the postponement of some local events, wedding fair organiser Samantha Stout said, but the Wānaka Wedding Fair is “steering into the headwind to bring a fun day out for those looking to get hitched, host a celebration or just want a good old fashioned sticky-beak”.

Samantha said it was important to the organisers, as vendors, to continue with the fair if at all possible.

“The fair is a great way to bring people into Wānaka both on the day and when they get married.

We know how hard people are doing it with the recent lockdowns - we as an industry have been hit hard too. Our best way to combat that was to keep on going and do our bit to encourage visitors to come to Wānaka for this week’s fair,” she said.

Originally due to take place on Labour Weekend, this weekend’s fair will host vendors from florists to celebrants, venues and accommodation, photobooths, cake makers, live music (The Juke DJ), bridal runway and planners.

“The wedding fair is not just for people looking to get married,” Sam said. “It’s for anyone wanting to have a celebration like a birthday party or wanting to take their house party to the next level. It’s also just a great excuse to get out and do something different for the day.”

The Wānaka Wedding Fair will be held at Edgewater Resort on Saturday (November 27) from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Novia Gowns' runway, featuring Amy Bixby jewellery, will begin at 12pm. Tickets are $5 from their website or on the door. Space is limited due to social distancing compliance.
