Central Otago’s week’s max temps remain above 20°C this weekend but periods of wet weather are forecast for the region most days but Christmas Day.
Cromwell born Meteorologist Lewis Ferris said we should expect cloud clearing in time for Christmas lunch.
"You should expect fine weather for Christmas and Boxing Day, but a bit wet afterwards.
There’s a chance of an afternoon shower around Central this afternoon"
Lewis says, "The 25th looks to start off cloudy but it doesn’t last long with plenty of sunshine through the second half of the day, might need to plan an afternoon swim!
Boxing Day is also looking like a treat but later in the day a southerly wind brings the risk of showers.
Showers look more likely on Monday with temps dropping back into the teens after sitting around mid 20s"

At this point the weekend is off to a good start. So you can continue the BBQ plans, and prepare for sitting in the garden with your shade umbrella.
Merry Christmas - Stay safe!
