Step up to the Summer Series challenge!

There are still three opportunities to compete in the 2021 Subway Cromwell Summer Series.


This sporting series has been running for over 20 years and features five exciting sporting events in the spectacular Cromwell landscape.


“Whether you are an elite athlete wanting to notch up another title or just looking to have a fun day out amongst unspoilt mountain scenery, the series has something for you,” says Carolyn Murray, chairperson of Cromwell Promotions.


Two of the series events – the Cromwell Half Marathon and the Nevis Valley Gutbuster – are already done and dusted, with three now remaining.


First up is the XS Storage Bannockburn Mtb Classic on Thursday, 30 December 2021. This event offers four ride options to cater to mountain bikers of all ages and abilities, including a Recreation Ride for first-timers and families and an epic Adventure Ride featuring 56 km of the best mountain biking Central Otago has to offer.


The Gate Lake Dunstan Triathlon and Duathlon, scheduled for Sunday, 2 January 2022, has all-new courses from its new starting point at the Bannockburn Inlet. Athletes can choose to tackle the triathlon with either a swim or a kayak along with the run and bike, while the duathlon athletes are in for a great run, bike, run in one of the most picturesque venues in New Zealand.


Rounding out the series is the Lake Dunstan Cycle Challenge on Saturday, 8 January 2022.


This ride is any road cyclist’s dream – 96 km of sealed road going along scenic Lake Dunstan all the way from Cromwell to Luggate and back.


Entries for all three of these events are still open, so challenge your mates and get amongst it!
