Central Otago woke up this morning (8 July) to a bit of a winter wonderland.
MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says reports from a very reputable source (his mother) in Pisa Moorings said there was snow on the ground but it had begun raining.
“This rain looks to ease throughout the day but there’s more on the cards tomorrow.”
The weekend will be experiencing snow around the 500m mark Source: MetService.
“Periods of rain with snow around the 500m mark thanks to some cool southerlies on Saturday,” Lewis said.
“Sunday sees a break in the rain so people may be able to get up a hill and enjoy the snow.”
Monday starts off settled.
Be safe on the roads today and this weekend.
