Saturday’s charity auction in Alexandra was living proof that locals here support locals.
Auctioneer with Harcourts in Alexandra, Carol Stafford acted as the official auctioneer at Saturday’s charity auction in Alexandra.
“We had an extremely enthusiastic crowd there, and the men at the Men’s Shed are really happy.
“The sausages went down a treat, and the hot drinks were greatly appreciated on a winter’s day – everyone was well catered for.”
There were a lot of exciting items up for grabs to the highest bidder, including accommodation packages, a supercar fast dash at Highlands, and the much talked about two-room shed.
Carol says everything was sold at the auction, except for the trailer sailer, which was passed in.
However, intense negotiations followed, and the trailer sailer now has a proud new owner.
Once the funds were tallied up, Carol says the final amount raised for the Men’s Shed was just over $3,800.
Money raised at Saturday’s auction will go towards tools, running costs and whatever the Alexandra Men’s Shed needs to keep operating.
“It’s all about locals supporting locals,” says Carol.
“And it’s such a great cause.”
Malcolm MacPherson was the lucky winner of the Queenstown accommodation package and Skyline voucher.
Alexandra Men’s Shed coordinator Brian Taylor says Carol did an amazing job as auctioneer on Saturday.
“It’s been an amazing plus for our fundraising efforts.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to this amazing day.”
