The Alexandra Netball Club (ANC) has raised $750 for the Alexandra District Parents Centre (APC) through the NRG Alexandra summer league tournament.

Six teams from Central played in a six-week-long tournament held at Molyneux Park netball courts on Wednesday evenings with games running between 6pm and 8pm.

The winning team was ‘Rox and Roll’ from Roxburgh, securing them a $100 Amigos Alexandra voucher and a trophy sponsored by Jamies Jewellers.

A wooden spoon prize, of the same value was awarded to ‘Dynamite’.

The final placings were second to ‘Mixed Grade Eggs’, and third to ‘Vicious and Delicious’.

ANC president Caitlyn Thomson said the club would be running the tournament again in October and then in February next year.

“Each time we intend to raise funds for a different charity.”

A portion of the team’s entry fees, along with sponsor support made the donation to APC possible.

APC is run by community volunteers and along with support services for families, they also bring knowledgeable speakers for sessions and arrange social family friendly events.

Caitlyn thanked NRG Alexandra for supporting the league, along with personal trainer Teresa Noble who presented prizes, Jamies Jewellers for sponsoring the trophy, Amigos for the prize vouchers and Monteith's Brewery Bar Alexandra for sponsoring weekly platters for each team.

ANC is preparing for the upcoming netball winter league, with a night of trials on April 3 at 6.30pm.
