‘Stepping Up’ is back, with free technology classes available to all, starting tomorrow.
An initiative of the Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa, supported by Central Otago REAP and Central Otago libraries is bringing free technology classes back to the community.
The aim is to help people get online affordably, knowledgeably, with skills and confidence.
“Anyone can sign up for our free, fun and very supportive classes”, says Central Otago District Council communications coordinator Maria De Cort.
Stepping Up is a series of free workshops designed to make tech easy.
“Our Library team is running these workshops at the Central Stories Learning Hub with CO REAP’s support.
“Rosanna who runs the learning hub will be available for drop-in sessions between workshops.”
Workshops offered in the series include computer basics, email, Google and the Internet, Skinny Jump connectivity, and much more.
The Stepping Up programme has been designed for those wanting to improve their skills for work or home.
The initial few courses will be followed by some exciting new courses, delving into a range of topics such as digital banking, smart devices and digital photography.
Maria advises people to keep an eye out for start dates.
Numbers are limited, and the first computer basics class starts tomorrow in Alexandra, so people are encouraged to phone or register online.
