Cromwell Police are investigating the theft of a grey Mazda Bounty overnight on Monday.

Sergeant Regan Price said anyone with information is asked to contact police via 105 regarding the vehicle with the registration number DDZ885.

Police would also like to thank the public for information resulting in the location of cannabis, unlawful firearms and ammunition.

Anonymous information was received during March, which resulted in searches being conducted at several addresses.

Two high powered rifles, a number of cannabis plants and ammunition were located during those searches, and two people are now before the court facing drug and firearms charges.

The investigation into two recent assaults in the Old Cromwell area have resulted in one person being arrested and charged with assaulting a female.

Sergeant Price said the investigation continues in relation to two further assaults in the area.

“Alcohol appears to be a major contributing factor in these incidents.”

Cromwell Police would also like to remind the public of the liquor ban.

Several alcohol infringement notices were issued in March to people consuming alcohol in the liquor ban area.

These $250 infringements are a tool police will continue to use to reduce alcohol related offending in a public place, he said.
