Emergency services are responding to a serious two vehicle crash on SH 1, Otokia.

The crash, reported around 5:15am, took place on the Taieri River Bridge.

There are multiple people with injuries.

Both lanes are blocked and motorists are advised to expect delays or use an alternative route.

Due to a crash, State Highway 1 is closed between Henley Berwick Road and State highway 86 intersection.

Detour route: Northbound traffic turn onto Henley-Berwick road, then turn left onto Centre road, then onto State Highway 86, then onto State Highway 1. Reverse for Southbound.
