A man is missing near Milford Sound after being reported overdue last night (27 March).

A search was mounted today by Police Search and Rescue and LandSAR personnel and volunteers, including a LandSAR search dog from Dunedin.

Two helicopters have also joined the search.

The search was further scaled-up today after being joined by a specialist Alpine Cliff Rescue (ACR) team from Queenstown.

Despite extensive searches until last light today (28 March), the man who is experienced in the outdoors, remains missing.

Night vision technology deployed from a helicopter is being considered.
