The Roxburgh Medical Centre has appointed a temporary General Practitioner (GP) for the next six months, while the search for a full time GP continues.
Roxburgh Medical Services Trust board member Stephen Jeffery said the locum will be on board within the next fortnight.
“Getting a locum for six months has taken the pressure off for now."
He said recruiting a GP has become increasingly difficult, something other rural practices had also struggled with.
"We've been trying to attract a permanent GP for a couple of years now.
“We’ve got a long term nurse practitioner, but we need a GP full time.”
This is a chance to work in a friendly rural spot while enjoying a wonderful lifestyle, Stephen said.
The job advert states the role will be very rewarding from both a professional and a lifestyle perspective.
The centre’s current GP Dr Ronald Dittrich is finishing up at the end of February after coming out of semi-retirement to help for the past couple of years.
The Roxburgh Medical Centre is also currently advertising for a practice manager.
The medical centre is a community based general practice that serves the Teviot Valley families and its seasonal workers, providing healthcare to about 1400 enrolled patients.
