A 6.4 earthquake was recorded south of the Kermadec Islands at 1.45am this morning.


A 6.4 earthquake was recorded south of the Kermadec Islands at 1.45am on Monday.


Its epicentre was about 600km north-east of East Cape.


Civil Defence says there was no tsunami threat from the tremor.
