Clyde's Lodge Lane could soon be restricted to pedestrians and cyclists only.

A proposal to make Lodge Lane a pedestrian and cyclist-only space to enhance the village atmosphere will be open for public feedback from September 30 to October 30.

Lodge Lane received a makeover three years ago as part Central Otago District Council’s (CODC) Clyde Heritage Precinct Upgrade project.

The upgrade to create a shared public space and a central community hub at the ‘heart’ of Clyde was consulted on with the community through council’s 2018 10-Year Plan.

CODC senior land development engineer Dan Kirkman said the next step would be to ask people whether they want the space to be restricted to pedestrians and cyclists only.

“With the work on Sunderland Street progressing, and Clyde opening up again from December, it’s time to ask the community what they think about Lodge Lane and whether they want it to be vehicle free and its future function in the village of Clyde.”

People can give their feedback on the matter from Monday, September 30 via council's Let’s Talk document.
