Warm and relatively stable weather is forecast for Central Otago this week, as spring pushes the mercury close to 20ºC.
Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the forecast reflects the prominent northwesterly winds.
He warns pockets of showers are likely across the district.
“Monday starts off the week nicely but expect some wet weather on Tuesday as a front moves over the region from the south,” Lewis says.
“Northwesterly winds will also be picking up, especially for elevated areas.”
It’s a warm and relatively settled forecast this week, however pockets of showers will be encountered across the district.
Lewis says a calm spell mid-week means the perfect conditions for some spring cleaning.
“Wednesday and Thursday are looking great for getting washing dry,” Lewis says.
“A small weather system looks to move through on Friday morning so some brief showers are expected.
“Another front is due to start the weekend, rain and strong northwesterly winds.”
Looking at the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday look likely to include showers with northwesterlies.
