NZCT funds instructors for ice skating, curlingThe funding will subsidise costs of instruction for school children..

School children in Central Otago will benefit from the latest round of funding announced by the New Zealand Community Trust on Wednesday (May 24), with grants supporting the salaries of those who teach them.

IceInline Central Inc received a grant of $5,000 to cover salaries of skating and curling instructors.

That amount was only partial payment of the salaries, IceInline manager Bill Roxburgh said, but would subsidise costs for school children.

“We only charge schools $10 for ice time, equipment hire and coaching. That will help reduce the school costs,” Bill said.

The Southern Zone of New Zealand Rugby League received a total of $10,314.41, some of which will have an impact on the game in Central Otago. The Southern Zone covers the whole of the South Island.

The amount included salaries for the Southern Zone general manager and the capability and event manager.
