New Zealand partner company of the now liquidated UK based data processing company Lake Parime, Contact Energy is looking to move on after the shock liquidation.
Lake Parime, the company behind the almost complete data processing centre construction near Clyde, went into liquidation late last month (January).
The UK-based startup was building a 10-megawatt data processing centre downstream from the Clyde dam, due to be operational in March (2023).
In a statement Contact Energy said it had worked quickly to understand the impact of Lake Parime Ltd going into liquidation when they were advised on January 31.

The generation company stated its priority was to ensure all creditors had been paid and that they said, “is the case”.
Contact Energy has also terminated its contract to supply the energy to run the data centre with Lake Parime Ltd’s administrators.
“We will consider the future use of the wider site, but our first priority is to ensure the completion of the electricity substation with Aurora that will ensure the future security of supply for the Clyde community,” a Contact spokesperson said.
The data centre operators were to fund a substation connection at the Clyde dam site, providing a second connection for Clyde.
Lines company Aurora is continuing with the project as part of its upgrade programme.
