Man smashes Landcruiser into two police carsPolice are appealing for any video relating to the incident

A 35-year-old man appeared in the Queenstown District Court today (Wednesday, October 19) facing serious charges after several incidents in Wānaka, Tarras, and Pisa Moorings yesterday.

The man drove a Toyota Landcruiser into two police cars which were attending a family harm event in an unidentified location just before 6pm, causing minor damage to the vehicles. The police officers were not injured in the incident.

The driver then fled towards Tarras and on to Wānaka before travelling through to Lowburn and Pisa Moorings where he was taken into custody.

The man has been charged with several driving, assault and burglary charges.

“While this was an unpredictable and concerning incident, we want to reassure the Central Otago community that there is no further threat,” Sergeant Derek Ealson said.

“Police would like to hear from anyone who captured video of the incident, the vehicle as it drove towards Tarras, Wānaka, Lowburn or Pisa Moorings, or of the man’s arrest, as this may assist our investigation.”
