People travelling on mountain passes need to stay up to date with conditions despite the Metservice heavy snow watch being lifted for inland areas of Otago, Southland and eastern Fiordland.
The threat of snowfall amounts reaching warning criteria has passed and the watch was lifted at 10am on Tuesday.
Road snowfall warning remain for the Lindis Pass and Crown Range Rd.
Southerly winds are present making the outside temperature feel colder than it is.
At 10am, Alexandra was at 2.6 degrees Celsius but felt like -2 according to the Metservice.
Snow has been falling in the Ida Valley this morning, with farmers having moved stock to sheltered areas prior to the inclement weather arriving.
