Heavy rain may cause Streams and rivers to rise rapidly, and surface flooding and slips are possible.

Areas between Balcutha, and Waikouaiti are likely to experience the most rain.

Be cautious if driving back home from the long weekend, as driving conditions may be hazardous.

Southern Police advise people in Otago and Southern Districts to avoid any unnecessary travel and if possible, stay indoors.
