Dunstan Hospital is set to benefit financially from a recent golf tournament to the tune of $6500.

Funds raised from the tournament, hosted last Friday, will go towards vital equipment, but not necessarily a defibrillator as initially intended, Business South Central Otago chair Dewald de Beer said.

“The funds raised were intended to purchase a defibrillator for Dunstan Hospital," he said.

“Thanks to the generosity of one of our players who donated a defibrillator on the day, the $6500 raised can now be allocated to other vital equipment to benefit our community.”

The day, hosted at Alexandra Golf Club, followed a team ambrose format, which was won by mixed team from ICL chartered accountants and Forsyth Barr.

Second place was a mixed team from Santana Minerals, Central Financial Planning and Craigs Investments Partners and third place was Findex.

Dewald said it was a great day out for the 76 golfers and was a chance to network with other business people, with the fundraising adding another worthwhile element.

Major sponsors of the day, known as the Business South Blossom Festival golf day, included The Central App and Central Financial Planning.

The Central App managing director Vicki McLean said the day was a great success.

“The funds will be presented next week, and we plan to continue to make this an annual event to raise money for Dunstan Hospital.”

Organisers thanked hole and prize sponsors for backing the day by participating and contributing generously to Dunstan Hospital.
