Firefighters from several Central Otago brigades are responding to a vegetation fire on Scotland St / SH8 just south of Roxburgh.

Two helicopters are also on the way.

The fire is estimated to be covering about 1.5 ha and is moving slowly uphill.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) are asking the public to stay away to allow crews their crews to work.
