Central girls can get involved in sports often dominated by the boys - cricket, rugby and soccer - at a ‘have a go’ sports day next week (Thursday, December 1).
The day is a cross code collaboration between three sporting associations: Football South, Otago Cricket and Otago Rugby.
Cricket development officer Sophie Gray said they are keen for more girls and school groups to take part in the day which runs from 10am -2pm at Molyneux Park.
Women’s sport has been in the headlines with three women's World Cups being played in Aotearoa in 2022 and 2023.

The Black Ferns securing the Rugby World Cup is another reason to celebrate and the timing is apt to get girls excited about codes they might not have considered.
Fern Fever day is open to year five to eight students and will involve modified and inclusive games, building skills in cricket, football and rugby.
Last year more than 300 girls across Otago attended Fern Fever days, and there are also events coming up planned for Oamaru, Invercargill and Dunedin.
