This weekend Central families can enjoy two free alternative Halloween celebrations, without trick or treating or scary costumes and with an emphasis on fun.
Alexandra’s eighth annual light party is at Pioneer Park Saturday October 29 from 4pm - 7pm and has a Disney theme.
The event will have fun side-shows for children aged five to 12 years old, face painting, a bouncy castle and a sausage sizzle.
Live entertainment from Ukes in Thyme and Lleneke Dawkins will get kids dancing.
Organised by the Combined Churches of Alexandra, the event is supported by several community groups including Rotary.
Children can come dressed as Disney characters and win prizes including 30 Boulder Inn rock climbing vouchers and prezzy cards.
Cromwell’s light party offers another alternative to Halloween at Cromwell Presbyterian Church on Monday October 31, from 5 -7pm.
Children will receive a welcome party pack including sweets on arrival. A sausage sizzle, hot drinks and baking will be available.
Craft activities, games, a toddler play area and photo booth will keep youngsters busy. Spot prizes for “positive” (not scary) costumes will be awarded on the night.
Organisers are grateful to Central Lakes Trust and other sponsors for their support.
