Central Otago District Council (CODC) has confirmed the appointment of Bruce Robertson of Queenstown as the new independent chair of its Audit and Risk Committee at its meeting last Wednesday (August 30).
Bruce comes to the role with a wealth of experience, being an independent member of several Audit and Risk Committees, including Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Wellington city councils, and Bay of Plenty Regional Council for the 2022-25 local body triennium.
“Having Bruce as the independent chair will be of huge value to CODC as it continues to traverse the difficult economic and political conditions in New Zealand and the world, where the only certain thing seems to be on-going uncertainty,” CODC mayor Tim Cadogan said.
Tim also paid tribute to out-going chair Linda Robertson who did not seek reappointment after seven years in the role.
“Linda was council’s first independent chair of audit and risk and has brought the committee a long way in that time, providing invaluable advice and guidance in one of the most specialised governance roles at council,” Tim said.
“Bruce says that he welcomes the opportunity to build on the good work of Linda, council and management.”
