Central houses make top list in awardsNicknamed ‘The house of the rising sun’, this Cromwell house won four awards in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards 2022.

Several Central homes that mirror and honour the landscape have scored recognition in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year 2022, celebrating building excellence across New Zealand.

A three bedroom Cromwell home, designed and built by ARC Build, is a carefully thought out retirement retreat with views of Dunstan and Pisa ranges.

It was awarded a place in the top 100 list and was a national category winner, along with gold and category winner titles for the Southern region.

The annual competition recognises the craftsmanship that go into New Zealand’s top homes, and the judging panel scores each project on workmanship as well as design, functionality and style.

Judges praised the “understated” design of this Tarras home, which was built by Breen Homes and received both a Gold Award and a Top 100 award

Another Cromwell build - by Versatile Homes and Buildings Cromwell - scooped a regional silver award. It was commended by judges for having design smarts such as a sun trap courtyard, in-built coffee machine and a double sided gas fire.

A home built by Breen Homes in Alexandra also won a silver. It features eight metres of sliding doors and expansive views and sits snug in the Central landscape.

A national awards gala held in Auckland last Saturday celebrated the winners.
