Central Otago Police have dealt with family harm incidents, a stolen vehicle, and disorder this past week.
On Thursday (June 26) Roxburgh and Alexandra Police responded to a family harm incident involving a 43-year-old female damaging property in Roxburgh.
She was arrested and charged with two wilful damage charges. She appeared at Dunedin District Court, pled guilty, was convicted and sentenced.
On Friday, the Alexandra Prevention Team responded to a family harm incident involving a 21-year-old male and an 18-year-old female from Christchurch.
Both parties were arrested. The 21-year-old male was charged with ‘impedes breathing’ and bailed to a Christchurch address. He is due to appear in the Alexandra District Court on Thursday (July 3).
The 18-year-old female was charged with wounding with intent to injure and bailed to an Alexandra address. She is also to appear in the Alexandra District Court on Thursday.
On Thursday night (June 26), a silver Toyota Allex was stolen from an Alexandra address.
The vehicle was found in Queenstown on Friday morning in the possession of a 36-year-old man from Alexandra. He was arrested and appeared before the Queenstown District Court, charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, assaulting two police officers, failing to provide identification details, and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.
The male was remanded in custody to Invercargill Prison, and is due to appear in the Alexandra District Court on July 23. The vehicle has been returned to the owner.
On Saturday, Alexandra Police stopped a 30-year-old woman from Alexandra on Killarney Street.
The female was breathalysed and blew a reading of 539 and subsequently elected to provide a blood sample. She was forbidden from driving for 12 hours. The blood sample has been sent for analysis.
Also on Saturday, Alexandra police responded to a crash on Henderson Drive, Alexandra. A 25-year-old Alexandra man had struck a stationary truck parked on the side of the street. He was taken to Dunstan hospital and provided a blood sample for analysis.
On Saturday night, Cromwell Police responded to a fight between two men at a licensed premises.
Security staff and police instructed them to leave. One was found to be in breach of his bail conditions and arrested. The man appeared at the Queenstown District Court for breach of bail.
A 33-year-old Cromwell man, at the same licenced premises, was found to have consumed illegal drugs on the premises.
The men that had been fighting and the man that had taken drugs were trespassed from those premises.
