By-election candidates make their pitch All seven candidates agreed on the critical issue facing Cromwell

Six of the seven candidates vying for the vacant seat on the Cromwell Community Board fronted up to an audience on Monday night (January 30).

Candidates had five minutes to address the 50-strong audience before taking questions from the floor.

Many topics were traversed, from the community’s lack of health facilities, the location of the new museum complex, and the need to make the most out of opportunities presented by the new cycling trails in the district.

All candidates, however, were united over the critical issue facing Cromwell: The significant lack of housing and accommodation.

Sian Simpson, who could not attend the meeting, had a statement read by meeting chair and former Cromwell mayor Peter Mead.
