Mason welcomed whanau, friends, students and staff, along with the newly appointed Central Otago mayor Tamah Alley to the evening to celebrate student achievements.
“According to Greek philosopher Socrates, the secret of change is to focus on not fighting the old, but building on the new . . . this has been one of the strengths of how our people, through time, have adapted in our community of Cromwell,” he said.
Changes had impacted the kura (school) including Covid-19, industrial developments, increased cultural diversity and population growth in the wider basin.
Cromwell’s growth in the past five years had led to the school roll increasing and around 700 students were expected next year, Mason said.
Senior school leaders for 2025 were recently announced. Congratulations to head students for 2025 Baxter Dimond and Becky Thomson.
Other prefects are Becky Thomson and Alyssa Wilson (academic), Baxter Dimond and Lachie Morton (sport), Laura Bates and Sully Sonntag (art), Kees Johnson and Grace Tiko (culture), Charlotte Affleck and Lani Jones (Environmental) and Hadley Farquharson (Pasifika Māori Pou).
