Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield announced two new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in managed isolation today.

One is a teenager who arrived in New Zealand earlier in the month.

Her only symptom was a runny nose.

She flew from Islamabad, Pakistan, and was on-board the same flight as another confirmed case.

Everyone on that flight, which went via Melbourne, is currently in managed isolation.

The second case in a man in his 30s, who flew into the country from India.

His wife, who he travelled with, has not reported any symptoms and is being tested today.

The same flight had an earlier confirmed case on-board.

New Zealand has 1,163 confirmed cases in total.

The country has nine active cases and conducted 3,402 tests yesterday.

Ashley said of those tests carried out yesterday, 430 tests were carried out in Auckland managed isolation facilities, while around 60 were conducted in the Christchurch managed isolation facilities.

So far, 334,519 tests have been carried out.

The Director-General said all people who have left managed isolation since June 9 have been tested.

Since then, 55 people had been granted compassionate leave, before compassionate leave exemptions were cancelled.

Everyone who was in the same managed isolation hotel where two British sisters, who were confirmed to have COVID-19, were staying has been followed up for testing.

He said there were also 190 people who were guests at the hotel during the time the two women stayed in the hotel.

Ashley said 179 of those guests have been tested, with156 having returned negative tests. The remainder are still being followed up.

He said anyone who left the Novotel Ellerslie Hotel, where the two sisters stayed, between June 9 and 14 and who has not yet been contacted, to contact Healthline on 0800 611 116.
