Little Valley Road Bridge, Alexandra

Central Otago District Council is preparing to rehabilitate Little Valley Road bridge on the Manuherekia River to extend its life, improve safety and support heavy vehicles. This important project will ensure the bridge remains a safe, reliable and accessible community link for residents, farmers, businesses, emergency services and visitors including Otago Central Rail Trail users.

 

What’s happening?

October to December 2025 – A temporary Bailey bridge will be installed from Rivers Street Park (also known as Linger and Die Park) to Graveyard Gully Road, to ensure traffic flow.

January to June 2026 – Closure and rehabilitation of Little Valley Road bridge.

Post-June 2026 – Bailey bridge removed, site reinstated, landscaping and signage. Project completed.


Temporary Road Closure – Earnscleugh Road, Alexandra

(Pursuant to the Transport Vehicular Traffic Road Closure Regulations 1965)

From 15th September into December 24/7.

 

The eastbound lane on Earnscleugh Road in Alexandra will be closed between Half Mile Road (State Highway 8) and Hart Place, from Monday 15th September; works continue into December 2025. Further updates on opening dates will be sent out as they are confirmed. The closure is 24/7.

 

Westbound traffic: Earnscleugh Road will remain accessible from State Highway 8.

Eastbound traffic: A one-way detour will be available via Aronui Road for light vehicles. Heavy vehicles must detour via Conroys Road.


Please follow posted detour signage.

The closure is required for a water main replacement.

Temporary Road Closure – Holloway Street, Clyde

(Pursuant to the Transport Vehicular Traffic Road Closure Regulations 1965)

Saturday 6 December 2025, 12pm - 7pm

 

A section of Holloway Street in Clyde will be closed for vehicles, for the Clyde’s Annual Christmas Market.

A detour will be available via Naylor Street and Sunderland Street.
