More than 30 designers have submitted 53 entries for the upcoming creative fashion event, WoolOn 2024.
A WoolOn spokesperson said the community’s support for the event being back in Alexandra has been positive, and the gala evening sold out quickly.
“Under 12 and under 18 entries [were] not as strong as we’d have liked . . . youngsters can come along to this year's matinee reveal event to be inspired to get involved next year.”
The matinee includes a full catwalk display of all entries, circus-style entertainment in the interval, geared for younger and senior audiences who may not want a late night.
This year WoolOn is being held at the Alexandra Bowling Club on Poole Rd.
The WoolOn community expo programme on Sunday September 1, taking place at Central Stories Museum and Gallery from 10am - 3pm, has been finalised and will feature local independent businesses.
Workshop spots need to be booked, and participants can learn about speed weaving, sewing, felting, core spinning and knitting from local craftspeople.
If you miss out on attending one of the shows, entry to Central Stories is by koha (donation) and winning garments will be on display, along with video footage from the fashion shows.
