It may seem counterintuitive to consider becoming a real estate agent when the market is slowing down, but you could find it’s the best time. Getting established in a difficult market can set you up to be very effective when the market improves.
If you think this could be your time, we are looking for new agents.
Initial training is through Skills NZ or Open Polytechnic and normally takes 3-4 months part-time online. We also have a thorough induction process running for five days and a comprehensive ongoing training programme for up to six months depending on your experience.
It is strongly advised to have some financial reserves before embarking on a career in Real Estate as earnings are commission-based and you could be working for six months before
your first sale closes.
However, once you’re established, real estate can offer great job satisfaction alongside substantial financial rewards. Remember, you are dealing with people making one the most
important choices in their lives and that can bring sincere fulfilment to your working life.
There are several key attributes we look for in an agent and we find they align with what our vendors/buyers are looking for too.
Communication is king: the real estate market is time-sensitive so timely, clear, and regular contact with your client is essential. Home buyers and sellers are at a highly vulnerable time
of their lives – they’re about to make a major life decision. If your client is regularly ringing you for information, you need to examine how well you’re communicating with them.
Engagement is key: with your clients and your local area. Get online with social media (it’s amine of information and potential leads and can be a very powerful tool); get involved in
the local community; listen to what your client needs.
Trust is tantamount: this goes without saying. It goes hand in hand with professionalism. Without it, you’re doomed. Honesty is critical.
