Central Otago’s fine run of pleasant weather looks to have ended, with rain and wind hitting the district in a weekend of unsettled weather.
According to the MetService forecast, multiple weather systems are to pass over the region before the end of the weekend, so don’t count on the weather being the same for any lengthy periods of time.
Cromwell-raised MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the fine run of weather we had in the last week, is over for now.
Central Otago’s weekend forecast looks to be mostly unsettled run of weather
“Northwesterly breezes are bringing the warmth today but are quite gusty around the region with 90kmph gusts possible in elevated areas under a Strong Wind Watch,” he says.
“Periods of rain will come and go from today (Friday) into Sunday with some heavy falls possible on Saturday.”
Max temps fall back into the teens on Saturday after a 9 day streak above 20°C.
Unsettled weather continues into next week with things looking up as the week progresses.
Gardening Tip:
Slugs and snails love leafy spring salad greens. Apply slug and snail pellets to help stop them munching on your seedlings.
Look out for aphids and white cabbage butterfly caterpillars - they will be actively looking for food.
