Wānaka township hits 90 percent fully vaccinated

Wānaka township hits 90 percent fully vaccinatedMore than 96 percent of Wānaka township’s eligible population has received one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

The latest vaccination data from the Ministry of Health shows that 90 percent of the Wānaka township is now fully vaccinated, with 96 percent having had at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine.


The township data includes Wānaka West, Wānaka Central, Wānaka Lakefront, and Wānaka North areas, not including Albert Town which is 87 percent fully vaccinated with 93 percent having had at least one dose.



The Upper Clutha region is 87 percent fully vaccinated with 93 percent having had one dose.


Rural areas including Luggate, Hāwea Flat and north of Albert Town (but excluding Hāwea township) are 78 percent fully vaccinated with 85 percent of the eligible population having had one dose.



Hāwea township is 80 percent fully vaccinated; and 88 percent have received one dose.

The traffic light system comes into effect today (Friday December 3) with the Upper Clutha on the Orange setting. Face coverings are mandatory on public transport, in taxis, retail and public venues.


Many businesses and events will require proof of full vaccination (vaccine certificate) upon entry.

The Southern District Health Board area is 88 percent fully vaccinated with 94 percent having received one dose. This is above the national average of 86 percent fully vaccinated and 93 percent having received one dose.
