The three day mountain bike race ‘The Prospector’ is coming back to Alexandra for its fourth year and is looking for volunteers to lend a hand.

Support is needed for the event, taking place from March 8 to 10, including roles as course and road marshals, and people who can provide assistance at the start and finish.

People are also required to support aid stations, during registration and as tail end charlies.

Communications and marketing manager Sophie Luther said 15 people were needed on Friday, March 8, and 25 people were needed on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10.

“It’s a fun crew to work with and some epic mountain biking to check out,” Sophie said.

A post event gathering will be held during the week following the event, so volunteers can socialise and swap stories about the event and their involvement.

Volunteers need adequate clothing layers, sunblock and a hat.

For some volunteers, having a bike is essential, particularly for those who work as a tail end charlie, or to get to their position on the course.
